Basic Life Support (BLS)
with CPR and AED

The BLS certification is designed for healthcare workers and others who are interested in learning how to respond in case of sudden cardiac arrest. This course teaches how to to do CPR with use of the automatic emergency defibrillator (AED) while also providing basic cardiopulmonary life support skills.

What does this course teach?

High quality CPR skills for adults, children, and infants

Important early use of an AED

Importance of teams in multirescuer resuscitation and performance as an effective team member during multirescuer CPR

The AHA chain of survival, specifically BLS components

Effective ventilations using a barrier device

Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants
